What draws your attention? Are there things that tug at the shirt tales of your awareness? What sparkles within your cosmic eye that utterly consumes you and your vision? I ask because tracking down that which pulls at the yarn balls of awareness creates fascinating tapestries of inner-knowing. Enter the concept of keeping a symbolic journal – your own personal memoirs of what catches your attention can be a recording of how signs and symbols are working in your life.
Avia’s Experience With Keeping A Journal for Signs and Symbols
Now, your experience might be slightly different from mine. I was writing down interesting stuff and journaling about signs and symbolic phenomenon since the time I was able to hold a pencil in my hand. Or, maybe we share similarities in that we were all recording oddities at the same time?
For some reason, I inherently thought that if I didn’t record it in my Trapper Keeper or spiral notebook, it might be lost forever. This might be a youthful concept, but it’s proven true over the years. The fact is, signs are subtle, and symbolic episodes can be equally ephemeral. That’s why recording these impactful visions and events is so crucial to our personal growth.
Allow me to present an example. Once upon a time, I was inundated with visions about starfish. At the time, I wasn’t thinking much about it, but because these lovely creatures kept creeping into my consciousness, I decided to write it down. Years later, I revisited my symbolic journal, and it reaped tons of revealing, healing insights for me.
That’s the point of keeping a symbolic journal. You never know what’s happening in the present moment, but if you record it – then it’s never lost. When you revisit your personal journal, you’re bound to find revelations you might have never had been unveiled if you hadn’t written it down.
Symbolic Journals Ground Your Memory
There’s something funky about memory. Have you ever had a dream that was so vivid, you thought you were actually in current reality? It might have felt so incredibly real that you were certain you would never forget it. Yet, an hour later when you try to retrieve those images, you find they have faded in distant memory. That’s why writing stuff down is so integral to personal development. Fleeting images, thoughts, signs, and symbols are just that – fleeting. Getting it down on a record of some sort is critical to retaining information that could be helpful in the future.
With this in mind, make a ritual out of writing down insights, unusual sightings, signs, or interesting symbols in your life. You never know what’s going to stick – so if you have it recorded, you know you have it in safekeeping for prosperity, and it’s preserved for future observation.
Why Taking Notes is Important
Taking note of what grabs our attention is a compelling way to unearth specialized self-awareness. Why? Because we are, first and foremost, perceptive beings. Second, our levels of perception are multi-dimensional.
What do I mean by that? I am saying our perceptions are forever plugged into the cosmic networks of endless supply – endless energy – endless wonder.
When I was a kid, I fancied that I was made of millions of eyes and as I looked out into the world – each eye saw something different – each eye recorded the data in unique ways too. Therefore, I had to record everything all my different inner eyes saw (because if I didn’t I might miss something).
As I got older, I took that concept to new levels. I started little notebooks and recorded everything that really zapped my awareness in inspiring ways. Each time something caught my attention, I recorded it in my notebook – a “Soul Clue Journal” of sorts. I reasoned these things are clues on the trail to tracking down the authentic awareness within.
Revolutionary results were born, just by jotting short notes of oddly energizing baubles that caught my attention. Keeping a symbolic journal can be pivotal in the process of personal discovery and unveiling the phenomenal intricacies of the soul.
Insights You Can Gain from Keeping a Symbolic Journal
Here are some insights you can recapture while following your attention, writing about symbolism and recording your symbolic insights in a journal:

- Discover more about your personal advantages, creative impulses and your assets.
- You can tap into an endless databank of finely tailored inspiration as you revisit your journal.
- Experience epiphanies when revisiting your symbolic journal. That is to say, the stuff you write down today might seem hiddly-piddly, but when you revisit it in the future, you might be surprised by the eye-opening wisdom divulged in your journal.
Keeping a record of your insights, visions, dreams, signs, and symbols is a way to track your past, present, and future. It’s like a living record of all you are processing. This, in turn, can lead to an expansive understanding of yourself, your growth process, and the world in which you live.
